“Addressing the ‘Mandingo Question’ through dialogue, reconciliation, and the unwavering pursuit of equal citizenship.”

The Concerned Mandingo Society of Liberia (COMASL) is a leading advocacy group dedicated to fostering peaceful co-existence between Mandingoes and other ethnic groups in Liberia. Born out of the need to address post-civil war tensions, we champion land rights, authentic citizenship, and the development of war-torn communities in Nimba, Lofa, and Bong Counties.

The 2006 Peace Festival

The Event: On July 26, 2006, COMASL (Nimba Branch) and MURPA organized a historic gathering in Saniquellie and Ganta.

The Impact: Over 3,000 Mandingo youths gathered to extend a hand of peace to their Gio and Mano neighbors.

  • ✅ Unity: Created a framework for inter-tribal reconciliation in a volatile region.
  • ✅ Support: Diaspora members contributed $6,000 and 100 bags of rice to fuel the event.
  • ✅ Endorsement: Directly supported national government efforts to resolve land disputes.
“Peace is not just the absence of war, but the presence of justice.”
